A beautifully light and spacious cooking and dining area, where your family and friends can gather, chat and prepare food.
While offering every modern convenience, it retains great character with its stone floors and vaulted ceiling.
Designed by Tom Howley it is well equipped with Miele appliances – two ovens (steam + conventional), two dishwashers, microwave, induction hob, full height fridge and freezer and beautiful granite work surfaces.
The large pine table, which seats 14, overlooks the gardens and balustraded stone steps, designed by Joseph Paxton, and a large bay window leads to the lawns and alfresco dining area.
The mezzanine level, with a wood burning stove and wide screen TV, looks out over the rear gardens.
The utility area links to the kitchen and houses a second sink, washing machine and tumble dryer.

This fabulous games room, at the centre of the house, will entertain you and the children alike for hours.
There is a table tennis table, small pool table and multi games table (including roulette). French doors lead on to the patio and gardens.
Its decorative ceilings and stunning fire place hint at its original purpose and if you are hiring a private chef, it can be set up for a special dining occasion.
This room is also transformed into an art studio for our residential art courses run by Ella Clocksin.

Sit by the roaring fire while enjoying afternoon tea or after-dinner coffee with your family and friends. Or spend some private time taking in the sweeping views of the Victorian gardens from the large bay window area with beautiful Georgian astragal-paned windows.

This room retains is wooden panelling which was a feature throughout the ground floor before the 1950s. It has a Georgian fireplace with wood burning stove to gather round to play board games, watch a film or play console games.
The glass fronted cupboards are host to heaps of board games from Scattergories to Scrabble and a great selection of DVDs, PS3 and Xbox games to entertain the whole family.
There is a HD TV with Free sat, Blue-ray player and PS3 and Xbox consoles.

The beautiful stone staircase with mahogany balustrading sweeps to the upper floor.
The polished gritstone floor was sourced locally and all the main reception rooms lead off from the central area.
Underfloor heating through out the ground floor lends a cosy aspect to the grandeur.

This grand entrance hall welcomes you with its colourful Victorian tiles, magnificent fireplace and wood burning stove.
The French doors lead to a patio where you can see the outline, on the external wall, of a ridge and furrow conservatory built by Joseph Paxton as a prototype for the Crystal Palace and the Great Exhibition of 1851.
It’s a great place to sit and plan your activities – with maps of the area and books of walks and cycle rides.
There is also an extensive library of fiction and non fiction books for all ages.

This spectacular tadelakt wet room with its basin brought all the way from the souks of Marrakech is a decadent shower room for those guests without an en-suite.

This double aspect luxury master bedroom is a delight to retire to after walking in the dales.
The ensuite bathroom has a travertine-tiled walk-in shower and a stand alone roll-top bath with views of the rolling hills and countryside.
There is a full size single day bed, for flexible sleeping arrangements and plenty of room for a cot.

Hillside views
This beautiful room looks out onto one of the oldest ginkgo biloba trees in the country and the hillside beyond.
The stone lintel of the original fire place opening is exposed in both the bedroom and en suite shower room.
There is also a single bed for flexible sleeping arrangements and plenty of room for a cot.

This spacious room looks out across the hills.
The twin beds can be zipped together to create a seamless super-kingsize bed. There is room for a cot.
Monsal bedroom, Castleton bunk room and the separate shower room are at one end of the house and make an ideal family suite. And there is also the stunning Moroccan shower downstairs.

Castleton is a twin bunk bed room with four full size single beds.
There is a shower room next door and the Moroccan shower room downstairs.

This is one of two shower rooms for guests without en suite facilities.
Light floods through the upstairs landing with its original linen cupboard.
The gardens are very special, having been laid out by Sir Joseph Paxton with stunning specimen planting in the 1840s. There are various outdoor seating areas to enjoy including a walled patio for alfresco dining with our Big Green Egg BBQ
